Is John McCain a Real Candidate for Conservatives? On Free speech he is responsible for gross limitations on the First Amendment, via McCain-Feingold act, which, among other outrages, outlaws issue ads that mention a candidate's name or congressional voting record within 60 days of a general election or 30 days of a primary - when they're most necessary, and he's proposed extending these rules to the Internet, our only access to the truth on these issues. He has also proposed handing auspices of the Internet over to the UN. His best buddies on the Hill - Lieberman, Kennedy & Kerry, plus Hillary Clinton (whom he has said would make a good president), all favor the "fairness doctrine" (death of conservative talk radio). "Grassroots Lobbying reform" (blogosphere alerting of pending legislation only with 45 days notice to - and approval - of - Congress), and "hate crimes" legislation of the sort that has jailed pastors in Europe, Canada and Africa for preaching against homosexual behavior, gay marriage, and the abuses of Islamic extremism. McCain also opposes the one-man, one-woman marriage amendment at the Federal level. On Immigration he was the author and prime proponent (along with Ted Kennedy) of an amnesty path to citizenship with no punishment to sanctuary cities or illegal employers. He grants "carte blanche" for MS13 (the most vicious street gang in our history) and in-state tuition for illegal immigrants. In a recent debate, he reaffirmed his "path to citizenship" concept, a pathway that will guarantee at least 20-40 million new "Hugo Chavez" style voters, thus forever tilting our voting demographic to the left. He has also been a strong advocate for open borders and US-Mexico-Canada integration. John McCain has no intent on pardoning any of the various border agent political prisoners. Under a McCain administration we will never have any real border security if our agents must work under this cloud. A recent major speech showed he's frighteningly amenable to the North American Union, which his immigration policies enable. He has voiced tepid criticism on the sovereignty-ceding UNCLOS treaty during the campaign, but only says he will change parts, not that he will oppose the treaty. On Terrorism: While speaking "tough on terror," his weak border policies lay a virtual welcome mat for terrorists, and probably have led to massive smuggling of WMD's into our nation. On energy he's adamantly opposed to increased domestic oil production, even in ANWR, 1000 miles from civilization and in an Alaskan area where the pipeline of a previous generation actually improved the ecology. His energy policies would lock us in to buying oil and gas from our communist (Venezuela) and Islamist terrorist enemies at astronomically inflated prices that fund their armament programs aimed at destroying us, and have created a desperate economic situation for a huge portion of the American citizenry. On the economy he voted against both Bush tax cuts On Second amendment gun rights he's received 2 straight F-minuses from Gun Owners of America, scoring only 4 out of 15, on votes considered important. He's sponsored an amendment to outlaw the private sale of firearms at gun shows, which would effectively end such shows. He's supported legislation obligating federal agents to intensify efforts to arrest law-abiding gun owners who inadvertently violate any of innumerable federal anti-gun laws, including mere technicalities; even using a gun in self-defense could result in a minimum sentence of five years. On right to life issues, though he claims to be pro-life he's repeatedly voted to fund embryoic stem cell research. Further, he does not support a Human Life Amendment to the United States Constitution, and only scores a 75% from National Right to Life, indicating a somewhat lukewarm record. As far as the Supreme Court and potential McCain appointments it's clear to see what they would be. During the Sam Alito confirmation process, he complained that Alito was "too conservative," giving clear indication that he'd appoint another ultra-liberal in the style of GOP-appointed activist liberals and ultra-liberals like David Souter, John Paul Stevens, Sandra Day O'Conner, Anthony Kennedy, Earl Warren, Harry Blackmun, William Brennan, Lewis Powell, and John Harlan. A McCain presidency could lock in a solid far leftist majority on the court for decades to come. The Real Threat of McCain is the real threat of a "Hillabama" victory in the upcoming presidential election. Hungry for revenge for the "swift-boating" of John Kerry in '04, the Democrats, holding their tongues until McCain is nominated, can be sure to unleash a furious assault (with the full cooperation of the mass media) on the ethically vulnerable McCain that will guarantee a Democratic victory in a 2-candidate race based on his Keating 5 involvement, and the damning evidence of his shameful and stunning singlehanded betrayal of our never-accounted-for POWs after the Vietnam War.
